The Rally of the Canal du Midi in rowing
« A parenthesis out of time »

Created in 1982 (under the auspices of the Departmental Committee of Haute-Garonne), by passionate and professional rowers, it experiments for a few years an original concept mixing at the same time social action, spirit of team and physical effort.
In 1988 was created the ATPPR (Association Toulouse Pierre Paul Riquet).
Since that date, the Canal du Midi Rally has been geared towards experienced and physically fit rowers who alternate: rowing, leaving boats at the locks and putting them back in the water but also cycling.
This sporting and deserving course has become over the years a must for lovers of long distance rowing. Its success has exceeded our borders for many years: New Zealand, South Africa, the United States, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy… so many rowers who have not hesitated to cross the world to come and to come back rowing every year, on the Canal du Midi, in a friendly atmosphere !
The originality of its concept spread in NZ with the birth in 2013 of the Hoea Kaha rally (http://www.hoeakaha.co.nz/)
The loyalty of the rowers and the constant supervision of a team composed of 25 volunteers clubs from the Occitanie region, combined with the strong presence of nature, has brought out a « rally spirit » of rigor and conviviality.
